La Cense du Seigneur - Bed and Breakfast

The charming La Cense du Seigneur (« Lord’s Manor » in English), a 16th -century fortified stone farmhouse in the small farming village of Mélin, offers excellent bed and breakfast accommodations hosted by Eric le Hardy de Beaulieu and his wife Gwendolyn.

Mélin was selected in 1995 as one of the ten most beautiful villages in all of Wallonia and the only one in the province of Brabant Wallon, largely because the homes at its heart, particularly La Cense, were built in the 16th – 18th centuries of cream-coloured limestone quarried in the neighboring village Gobertange and boast a character reminiscent of the renown Cotswold region of England.

The village is found in the heart of Wallonia, roughly equidistant from Brussels, Louvain, Namur and Liege and easily accessible from Autoroutes E40 and E411. Mélin boasts an excellent restaurant. Other restaurants and shops are located in nearby towns a few minutes distant.

La Cense is located in the village center only steps along a cobblestone road from the grand village church, also built of Gobertange stone. Guest accommodations are in the farmhouse overlooking a cobbled courtyard and classical XVIII century gardens, all lovingly restored by Eric, a professional landscape gardener.
